I’m going to be honest with you guys, I initially wanted to write about my WINTER skincare routine, ’cause you know, I actually started writing this post in December, and cold days and holidays made me feel like writing a winter post (yea I’m that kind of girl). But then I realized that… I do not have a Winter skincare routine.
Actually, I have a winter-spring-summer-fall routine (you got it, it never changes). I mean, it was hard enough for me to find a good skincare routine, I’m not gonna change it every three months now that I’ve found THE perfect one for me.
I have a combination skin, and even though I see myself everyday in the mirror, I still haven’t accepted the fact that I have that kind of skin. Like… No. No way. I don’t want to. I had a perfect skin up until like five years ago, and then for some reason it changed. And before you say anything, YES, it’s been five years but NO, I’m still not over my naturally perfect skin. RIP.
Pulling sensations, dryness, dilated pores, buttons… Let’s be honest, having a combination skin sucks. I have the disadvantages of an oily skin around my nose and chin, and the disadvantages of a dry skin around my forehead and my cheeks, isn’t that great? I let you imagine what a struggle it was for me to find THE perfect skin care routine (I know, World First Problem). My skin is pretty capricious, the oily area of my face reacts to basically every hydrating products in the world, while the dry area is so dry that it needs to be soaked in butter. And I’m not even exaggerating as much as you think.
For years I tried to find the perfect products for my skin, but it was either not nourishing the dry area of my face enough, or making the oily area even more oily. Actually, I didn’t even know what was a combination skin at the beginning of my skincare journey, so no need to say that I had absolutely no idea that I had that type of skin nor how it needed to be treated.
I was washing my face with soaps that would dry my skin because I didn’t know better, and using hydrating creams to try to create a balance, but those creams were too rich for my skin because I didn’t know a better cream either. Unfortunately for my face, balancing doesn’t work that way.
After years of trying basically every product on this planet, I finally won the battle and found the products that were perfect for me and gave me a flawless skin. Please keep in mind that I am not a dermatologist, and any product that work for me might not work for you. But if you want to know more about my routine, here it goes !
I use Caudalie Instant Foaming Cleanser daily, except for one day a week, you’ll understand why in a minute. I apply it on damp skin and rinse with cold water.
This cleanser is by far the best I’ve ever used, I fell in love with it on the first use. It is actually a soap-free formula that was created for sensitive and combination skins. Unlike the other cleanser I’ve used, it is beyond gentle and does not give me those uncomfortable pulling sensations. It eliminates impurities and leaves my skin soft and feeling fresh. Plus Caudalie mostly uses plant origin ingredients, does not use any animal ingredient and their products do not contain any parabens, sulfates, phthalates, or phenoxyethanol. I know, you could not say the two last ingredients, but trust me it’s a good thing that they are not in it. Did I tell you how much I loved this cleanser and brand already?
I use The Body Shop Blue Corn 3 In 1 Deep Purifying Scrub Mask once a week (usually on Saturday or Sunday) instead of the Caudalie foaming cleanser. This three-in-one cleansing mask cleanses, exfoliates and moisturises normal to oily skin.
After cleansing, I use The Body Shop’s Drops of Youth Eye Concentrate, which is a serum that is great for dark circles under my eyes, puffiness and fine lines. I’ve discovered this one not so long ago, but I love it !
It is now time to moisturise my skin. I’m using Nuxe Crème Fraîche de Beauté Light, which was created precisely for combination skin. It took me some time to get use to the White Blossom scent that is pretty strong, but now I couldn’t live without this cream anymore. My skin is hydrated and doesn’t react to it. Crème Fraîche de Beauté leaves my skin fresh, soft and shine-free throughout the day.
The first thing I do is using Avène micellar lotion to remove my makeup and / or the impurities that are on my skin after a long day. This micellar lotion is the best I’ve tried so far. But the price is quite expensive, therefore if you have any micellar water suggestion, let me know in the comments !
From that Step 2, I basically repeat my morning routine and use Caudalie Instant Foaming Cleanser again to remove any makeup residues and make sure that my skin is perfectly clean.
Last but not least, I’m back to moisturizing my skin with Nuxe Crème Fraîche de Beauté Light. That cream is definitely amazing.
That’s it, beauties ! That’s the skincare routine that I’ve been maintaining for a while now, and I’m so happy with it. It is not too long nor complicated, and that’s precisely why I like it. I do not have time in the morning to spend 30 minutes taking care of my skin, even if that’s important, I simply don’t have time. That skincare routine is perfect for me !
Tell me, what does YOUR morning routine look like ?
