If only I had known the benefits of coconut oil sooner. I’ve heard of coconut oil for a very long time now, but for some reason it took me years to buy my first jar; I wasn’t really interested in trying it. Big mistake! After some researches on the subject, I have learnt that coconut oil is like 16oz of miracle in a jar; Not only does it smell insanely good (if you like the coconut’s smell of course), but it also has so many benefits for your health.

I will detail its benefits in this post, but first, let’s start with the main question : What is coconut oil, really ??


What Is Coconut Oil ?

Coconut oil is an oil extracted from Coconut (No kidding, Em ?!) and is known for its nourishing and restorative properties. Rich in essential fatty acids, lauric acid and myristic acid, it has a lipid replenishing action and is easily absorbed by the skin. It makes the skin smooth and the hair shine. Not to mention its delicious scent that makes you feel so relaxed. You can find coconut oil in many cosmetics: hair oils, soaps, balms and body lotions, hand creams, range of shampoos, face care …



What Are The Benefits Of Coconut Oil?

Did you know that Coconut Oil isn’t just great source of nutrition for your skin and hair, it has also many benefits for your health ! Here are a few example of the effects it can have on your health:

– Improve cardiovascular health
– Helps weight loss
– Improves the immune system
– Helps maintain proper metabolism
– Is a source of immediate energy
– Makes the skin healthier
– Support thyroid functions
– Helps hormone balance

How To Use Coconut Oil ?

Use coconut oil for body care:

 ✿ To Moisturize, Nourish and Grow Hair: Apply the oil from roots to ends, leave for at least two hours and rinse with two shampoos. I do this once a week, and my hair looks fab !

✿ To Hydrate Your Skin: After showering, apply this oil on your body for a soft, moisturized skin. It is also very helpful as an after-sun care, apply the oil on your sun burns just like you would do with aloe.

✿ As a Makeup Remover: To remove makeup (waterproof or normal), nothing is better than oil. Coconut oil has the enormous advantage of feeling divinely good, and to be anti-bacterial; it will heal and eliminate your imperfections.

✿ For Teeth Whitening: It’s a beauty tip from the actress Gwyneth Paltrow. Every other day, mix coconut oil with baking soda and brush your teeth with the mixture.

✿ For a Body Scrub: Mix brown sugar with coconut oil. Then rub your skin with the mixture.


There are tons of other uses for coconut oil, however these are the only ones I have tried, and therefore the only ones I can talk about ! You can use coconut oil’s benefits as a nutritive complement to addiction to your meals for example, but this is not really my area so I won’t even try to explain you how it works, I’ve never tried it !
