the only 8 Makeup brushes you really need

Makeup brushes can be a real brainteaser. There are so many different shapes, how are we supposed to know which ones we should have, and which ones are not as indispensable? Those are the only 8 makeup brushes you really need if you’re a makeup lover. Everything else is fluff !

1. COMPLEXION

1. THE FOUNDATION BRUSH

The foundation brush is flat and pretty big. It is great to apply your foundation and get a homogeneous and smooth result.

2. THE POWDER BRUSH

Large and fluffy brushes are the ones you need to apply and blend loose powders.

3. THE ANGLED CONTOUR BRUSH

Angled contour brushes are perfect for contouring your face with bronzing powder and apply blush.

4. THE FAN BRUSH

My favorite one ! The fan brush is a must-have in your makeup bag when it comes to highlighting.

2. EYES

1. THE EYE SHADING BRUSH

If you only have one brush, it’s probably this one. Use it to apply your eyeshadow on the biggest part of your eyelid (for smaller parts like the inner corner, we will talk about another brush in a minute !).

2. THE BLENDING BRUSH

As its name indicates it, the blending brush will be perfect to blend your eyeshadow. The hair on this brush are a bit longer and more flexible than the previous brush.

3. THE PENCIL BRUSH

The pencil brush is the brush you need for smaller details like the inner corner of your eye, or the edge of your lower lashes.

4. THE SMALL ANGLE BRUSH

The small angle brush is great because it has two completely different uses: you can use it as a brow brush or an eyeliner brush. Cool, huh?

Those are the only 8 makeup brushes you really need ! That’s basically my survival kit; I bring those brushes with me anytime I need to leave my home for a couple of days or more. Those makeup brushes are all you need to make a full face makeup, whether you want a discreet everyday look or a more sophisticated one.

Let me know in the comments what are the brushes you couldn’t live without !

Love,

Emma

  1. Love this post. Personally I use Morphe’s M439-Deluxe buffer for liquid foundation. Its great because it has synthetic hairs which doesn’t absorb any product. When you use circular motions, you’re buffing it in to give that blur effect which makes it look flawless. E.L.F. cosmetics selfie ready foundation or powder brush is a cheaper alternative too.

    1. Thank you so much ! I have never used Morphe brushes, but they look amazing. I’ll have to try them ! Thanks for the recommendations. x
